Jade Empire is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare. The game was published in 2005 by Microsoft Game Studios and released worldwide for the original Xbox. On May 10, 2006, BioWare announced a version for Microsoft Windows, and it was published by 2K Games and developed by LTI Gray Matter. Jade Empire is available for download on Xbox 360 Marketplace, since July 21, 2008. It originally costed 1,200 Microsoft Points (which were discontinued in 2013). The Xbox version of Jade Empire received positive reviews from most critics. It has an 89% rating from Metacritic, on 84 reviews. Jade Empire has received an 9.9 score from IGN.
Jade Empire Special Edition was released on Steam in 2007 published by Valve.
Jade Empire follows the style of the Wuxia genre within a mythical setting inspired by ancient China. The player character, progresses through an adventure based on traditional martial arts and can discover and develop new fighting styles martial arts, weapon styles, magic styles, support styles, or transformation styles. The combat is real time, giving players control when enemies dodge or attack.
Gameplay[]
Like Bioware's KOTOR series, Jade Empire allows the Player to choose their gender, abilities, styles and alignment. Players can choose a male or female warrior; the default males are:
Furious Ming (the tattooed, shirtless fighter)
Lu the Prodigy (a balanced fighter with a stocky build)
Tiger Shen (a large and powerful man)
The female characters are:
Radiant Jen Zi (a fast woman)
Scholar Ling (a magic type)
Wu the Lotus Blossom (a balanced character)
Digital Releases[]
Digital versions of the game, sold on Steam and GOG, come with all the enhanced in-game content, as well as the bonus art book and poster; however, they are only available as digital PDFs, so collectors may prefer to buy the boxed copy of the game instead.

Crashing Fix[]
Jade Empire needs DirectX9.
If you are running Jade Empire Special Edition and come across a strange in-game crash at random times. (The game immediately crashes to desktop without any error message.)
- Go to your Jade Empire installation folder.
- Open the " override " folder.
- Find the " apperance.2da " and open it in any text editor of your choice.
- Look for the line with " WildFlower_f " in this case it is line 40
- Now replace the " N_Wild_ " in the second column to " N_Dawn_ ".
- Save and close the file.
- Now you should be able to play the game without crashing.
Combat[]
The combat mainly involves many styles of martial arts that have different effects on the player and the opponent (for example, the Thousand Cuts style is a fast style but is less damaging). Players are also given Weapon styles that can only be used if the player has enough focus.
Romance[]
Jade Empire allows players to form relationships with fellow companions in your party. The game also gives you the option of romancing the same sex. Male characters can romance Dawn Star, Silk Fox or Sky while female characters can romance Sky or Silk Fox.
If the male character has been spending time with both Dawn star and Silk Fox then the player can romance both.
